Portulaca oleracea

Portulaca oleracea

Belonging to the Portulacaceae family, Portulacaoleracea is a succulent annual renowned for its dazzling, sun‑opened blooms and exceptional drought tolerance. Requiring full sun, sandy or well‑drained soils, portulaca flourishes where heat and low moisture stop most other bedding plants. The fleshy foliage stores water, allowing nonstop color in rock gardens, mass plantings, baskets, and low‑maintenance patio pots.
Stick cuttings promptly, maintain high light, and keep 70°F (21°C). pH 5.8–6.2, EC 0.8–1.0. Feed 50 ppm N early, then 100 ppm N. Fungicide at sticking and week 2; avoid overwatering.

Danziger’s Portulaca breeding pushes bloom size, color intensity, and uniformity, offering growers three habit‑specific series ideal for every container and landscape use:

  • PAZZAZ™
Vigorous, semi‑trailing habit with large, vividly saturated flowers that stay wide open under intense light—perfect for premium baskets, bowls, and sunny groundcover displays.
  • PAZZAZNANO
Naturally compact and early to color, NANO fills packs and quart pots quickly while maintaining tidy retail presentation. A rainbow of bright hues delivers eye‑catching bench appeal in tight spaces.
  • MEGAPAZZAZ
Extra‑vigorous with oversized blooms—double the impact for gallons, large patio containers, and boldly colored landscape borders that demand maximum visibility.
