Penstemon
Penstemon, commonly known as ‘beardtongue’, is a perennial from the Plantaginaceae family, valued for its upright spikes of tubular blooms that attract pollinators and bring bold color to summer landscapes. It thrives in full sun, well-drained soil, and moderate to low fertility. Performs well under controlled propagation with uniform sticking and fast rooting. Adequate moisture and air circulation are key, while light PGR use ensures compact, well-branched plants.
With excellent heat and drought tolerance once established, Penstemon is ideal for prairie-style gardens, borders, and water-wise landscapes, offering vertical interest and a long flowering window.
Danziger offers two series within this crop, along with additional Penstemon varieties:
- HARLEQUIN™
