Mecardonia grandiflora

Growing Guide, Production Protocols, and Danziger Series Overview

Cultivation & Growing Guidelines

Mecardoniagrandiflora, part of the Plantaginaceae family, is valued for its profusion of small, cheerful yellow blooms and low, spreading habit that creates a bright carpet of color. This heat- and drought-tolerant annual thrives in full sun, well-drained soil, and moderate fertility, making it ideal for groundcover, hanging baskets, and mixed containers that need season-long performance with minimal care.
Stick cuttings and reduce mist quickly. Maintain 70°F (21°C), pH 5.8–6.2, EC 0.8–1.0. Feed 50 ppm N, then 100 ppm N. Fungicide at sticking and week 2; pinch optional for shape.
