Cuphea hyssopifolia
Cuphea hyssopifolia, commonly known as ‘Mexican heather’, belongs to the Lythraceae family and is valued for its fine, evergreen foliage and endless display of tiny, lavender to white flowers. Thriving in full sun to light shade, well-drained soil, and moderate fertility, Cuphea offers exceptional heat tolerance and low-maintenance performance, making it ideal for borders, mixed containers, and pollinator-friendly gardens.
Remove from mist quickly, maintain good air movement, and allow some drying in weeks 3–4. pH 5.6–6.1, EC 0.8–1.2, feed 50 ppm N then 100–125 ppm N. Apply fungicide at sticking and week 2; Daminozide as needed; calcium sprays improve stem strength.
