Acalypha
Acalypha hispida, commonly known as ‘chenille plant’ or ‘red-hot cat’s tail’, belongs to the Euphorbiaceae family and is admired for its striking, fuzzy, tail-like blooms that add unique texture and tropical appeal. Thriving in full sun to partial shade, well-drained soil, and moderate fertility (pH 6.0–6.5). Begin propagation by promptly sticking fresh cuttings; consistent warmth and moisture will support rapid rooting and healthy growth.
Acalypha is heat-loving and works beautifully in patio containers, mixed tropical displays, and landscape focal points where bold, unusual flowers are desired.
